Christiana Schadegg, MOT, OTR/L

Christiana is a native of Abilene, Kansas. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from Kansas State University in 2003 and a Masters of Occupational Therapy from Rockhurst University in 2006. Christiana has received clinical training at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri and mentorship study with Lucy Jane Miller at the STAR Center for Sensory Processing in Denver, Colorado. She is also certified in Sensory Feeding Therapy. Christiana has worked with pediatrics in both school based and outpatient based settings and was practicing pediatric outpatient therapy at the Tulsa Sunshine Center in Broken Arrow, Ok. Prior to moving back to Kansas. She specializes in treatment and regulation for children on the Autism Spectrum, with sensory processing deficits, ADHD/ADD and with sensory feeding difficulties. She also has experience with developmental delays, behavioral disorders, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, torticollis and brachial plexus injuries. Christiana and her husband Max live in Wamego, Kansas with their two children, Hazel and Cooper.
Petra Crosby MOT, OTR/L
Petra is a native of Junction City, Kansas. She received a Bachelors in Occupational Science from The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2002 and a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2004. Petra has worked in a variety of pediatric settings. She received clinical training in Southeast Kansas Birth to Three program. Petra then started her Occupational Therapy career at the Sherwood Center for the Exceptional Child in Kansas City, MO providing school and home based services for children with the primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. She then went on to work as a pediatric therapist at The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City working with children with a variety of neurological disabilities ranging from traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, stroke, spinal cord injury, autism, and sensory processing disorders. Petra developed therapy camps focusing in constraint induced movement therapy for preschool age, school age, and adolescents. She has had specialized training in Kinesio Taping, Constraint Induced Movement Therapy, Saeboflex, Theratogs, and Interactive Metronome. Petra has presented at The Brain Injury Association of Kansas 2012 Annual Conference on the topic of Sensory Processing. Petra returned to the area to work at Irwin Army Community Hospital in Fort Riley, Kansas to supervise an Occupational Therapy clinic for the Warrior Transition Battalion. She developed an all encompassing program to address the psychosocial needs for Soldiers dealing with anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, and traumatic brain injuries in the transitional phase of their Army career. Petra and her husband Marc live in Manhattan, Kansas with their two children Ayla and Kord.
Alexandra Jones MOT, OTR/L
Alex was born and raised in Winfield, KS. She received a Bachelors of Occupational Science with a minor in Psychology from the University of Kansas is 2012 and a Masters of Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2014. Alex has worked in early childhood development centers for over 2 years, working with children of all different abilities. She has 3 years experience working in an outpatient therapy setting as a therapy technician and water aerobics instructor. She received clinical training at St. Luke’s hospital in the rehabilitation unit and Operation Breakthrough, an early childhood development center, providing occupational therapy services in a school based setting to children ages newborn to 5 years old. During her coursework she participated in a service learning project at CHAMPS karate school, a program that provides karate lessons to children with special needs. Alex, along with several peers, was awarded the University of Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary Grant in 2012 to buy equipment that supported children’s participation at CHAMPS. Alex and her husband Garrett live in the Manhattan area and enjoy cheering on the KU Jayhawks.
Gilbert Magallanes, COTA
Gilbert is originally from Lakin, KS. He graduated from Newman University in 2016 as an Occupational Therapy Assistant with an Associate of Science degree. He gained experience in pediatrics while completing a level II fieldwork in a pediatrics school-based setting working with developmental delays, Autism, down syndrome, and physical disabilities. His hobbies include spending time with friends and family, watching the Boston Red Sox, and attending K-State sporting events.
Payden Dowling PT, DPT
Pediatric Physical Therapist
Payden is a Dodge City, Kansas native. He received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with a secondary major in Gerontology from Kansas State University in 2012. He then obtained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from University of Kansas Medical Center in 2015. Payden has clinical experience in outpatient orthopedic, inpatient acute and pediatric physical therapy settings through clinical affiliations. Payden is a member of the Kansas Physical Therapy Association (KPTA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). In his spare time, Payden enjoys attending K-State football games, tailgating, and hanging out with his dog, Foster.
Lauren Bergstrom CCC-SLP

Lauren is a native of Clyde, Kansas. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Kansas State University in 2011 and a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Rockhurst University in 2013. Lauren received her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2014 and remains an active member. She has received clinical training in elementary school, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation hospital settings during her graduate school externships. Lauren returned to Manhattan after working in school-based and home health settings for 2 years in Kansas City, KS. She has experience providing therapy to school-aged children (preschool-high school) with a wide range of communication disorders, as well as treating adults with swallowing, cognitive, and communication impairments. Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending sporting events, reading, and being outdoors with her dog, Kali.

Emily is a Manhattan, Kansas native. She received a Bachelor of General Studies degree in Speech-Language and Hearing from the University of Kansas in 2009. She received her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Kansas in 2011. Emily received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2012 and remains an active member. She is also an active member of the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA). Emily has 3 years of experience working with school-age children with a variety of communication disorders. She completed several clinical placements during her graduate school training working with children and adults in outpatient clinics, preschools and elementary schools, as well as a skilled nursing facility. Emily has special interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She participated on a Communication, Autism and Technology Project during her training at the University of Kansas. Her participation included additional focused coursework and field experiences with augmentative and alternative communication and autism. Emily returned to Manhattan after completing her education in 2011. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading and participating in community activities.

Shauni completed her clinical training in elementary schools, outpatient clinics, and a rehabilitation hospital during graduate school. She is currently completing the requirements to receive her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Association. Shauni enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and watching and participating in sports.
Leslie McCutchen CCC-SLP

Leslie is a Pretty Prairie, Kansas native. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Kansas State University in 2008. She received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Fort Hays State University in 2011. Leslie received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2012 and remains an active member. During graduate school Leslie completed clinical hours at an outpatient clinic working with children and adults, as well as clinical externships in the schools (elementary and middle) and at an outpatient rehabilitation clinic. Leslie has 4 years experience working in skilled nursing facilities where she provided inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, and home health services. She has received specialized training in E-Stim (electrical stimulation) for the treatment of dysphagia. In her free time Leslie enjoys spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, and traveling.

Karen is a Salina, Kansas native. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Science and Disorder from Kansas State University in 2005. She received her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007. Karen received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2008 and continues to maintain her certification along with her membership to the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA). Karen has 7 years of pediatric experience working with children with a variety of communication disorders in school-based settings (preschool-high school) as well as home-based early intervention. Her special interest areas are Autism Spectrum Disorders, Phonological Disorders, and Central Auditory Processing Disorder. Karen and her husband, Jordan, live in Manhattan and enjoy sporting events, spending time outdoors, and traveling.

Sara is a native of North Florida/Southern Alabama. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Florida State University in 2003. She then received her Masters degree in Psychology, with a specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida State University in 2006. Sara worked with adults with developmental disabilities for 3 years in the community and at Sunland Marianna, a residential facility. She then received clinical training in using The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R) for 7 months at Brilliant Minds in Destin, FL. She has worked with children with Autism and other developmental delays in schools, homes, and clinical settings for the past 5 years. Sara lives in Manhattan with her son Zayd and daughter Ziah.
Registered Behavior Technician
Kylene was born and raised in Montana. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Montana in 2012. She has worked with children and adults with autism and mental health diagnoses in homes, group homes, and crisis houses for the past 5 years. She enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, playing cards, and hanging out with her cat, Monster.
Rachel Irwin BS, RBT
Rachel is from Owasso, Oklahoma. She received a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine and a minor in Psychology from John Brown University in 2015 where she was a collegiate women’s soccer player. Rachel is currently completing coursework through Florida institute of Technology to become a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. She has been working in the ABA department at NSU since December 2015. Rachel received her Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification December 2016. Rachel lives in Manhattan, Kansas with her husband Logan. They enjoy hunting, fishing, and playing with their dogs, Riley and Remi, and horse, Dyno.
Lisa Popelka BCBA
Lisa is a native of Harrison, Michigan. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Avila University in 2012. She then received her Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 2015. Lisa completed her practicum training at The Arc of the Ozarks in Springfield, Missouri. Lisa has worked with children and adults with autism and other developmental delays in schools, homes, and residential settings for the past 3 years. Lisa’s primary interests are the assessment and treatment of problem behavior and caregiver training. Lisa lives in Maple Hill, Kansas with her fiancé, Aaron. In her spare time, she enjoys working with cattle, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Registered Behavior Technician
Laura is a native of Upton, Massachusetts. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Behavioral Science from the University of Kansas in 2016. At the University of Kansas, Laura served on two research teams specializing in pediatric feeding disorders and completed three practica in the Little Steps ABA Early Intervention Program and the Kansas Early Autism Program (KEAP). She also spent a summer completing an internship at the New England Center for Children, a school for children diagnosed with autism outside of Boston. Laura lives in Manhattan and enjoys spending time with friends and family, being with her dog, drinking coffee, crafting, and watching Boston sports.
